Baby Love

Admittedly, I love babies. I work with babies everyday, and I love visiting with my friends' babies! I love photographing babies, but this was the first time that I tried to do a photo shoot on a baby as young as sweet miss Nicola. Bless her heart for being such a willing model, but wow, even immobile, babies are hard to capture on film! Thankfully she is the first baby of our work "baby boom" so hopefully I will get lots of practice over the next few months! I had lots of fun with Nicola, and I hope her mommy, Megan, loves the photos as much as I do! (Special thanks to Carrie and Baby BubbaDo for the headbands!)

Even crying she's so sweet!

"Auntie" Pamela tuckered her out!

Someone discovered her hands!

Baby bump in the snow

I got together with Adrienne and Ian on a cold wintery day to capture some shots of Adrienne's growing baby bump. Though the day was much colder than we anticipated, we had a good time trekking through the snow...well, Adrienne and I did. :) Ian was not 100% into the photos, but he was a very good sport (and I think enjoyed the few times this photographer found herself knee deep in unexpected soft snow). I hope you guys enjoy your photos, and I can't wait to meet your little tyke! If these photos are any indication, that baby is going to be surrounded by love!!

Smiley babies. What else does the world need?

So last week a friend of mine who's new to photography was asking me for some tips and tricks about portrait photography. Kind of flattering considering I'm pretty new at this too! At any rate, I was more than happy to share with her the knowledge I have, so I went down to her house and we practiced on her baby. My thinking is, with such a cute model, she'll be better than me in no time! ;) Check out her blog here. I also got to trial a couple of my new headbands from Baby Bubbado, so thanks to Carrie for those! I'm looking forward to using the rest! Anyways, enjoy the photos!

Waiting for Sawyer

So I'll begin by saying this is a very photo heavy post. Usually I only post a half dozen or so pictures from each session, because I just choose my favourites and allow the family I'm photographing to discover the rest on their own. For Melanie and Will's shoot however, I had too many photos to choose from! Considering it briefly seemed like this shoot wouldn't even happen, I'm thrilled that there are so many photographs to show!

This shoot was originally dreamed to be an outdoor winter wonderland-type shoot, but because it was January, the weather in Manitoba had different ideas. The weekend of the first session we booked, we experienced a blizzard and deep freeze temperatures. The second weekend was a bit more mild (but still cold!), but still threatening a snow storm. We decided to chance it, so I drove out to their home to do some indoor photos. Of course, then I nearly ended up in their ditch after overshooting their driveway! Clumsy photographer. :) Will graciously dug/pushed me out, and then still happily posed for photos!

Anyways, it happened, and these photos are the result! Melanie and Will, enjoy your photos! I had a great time with you guys, and I have no doubt that when Sawyer arrives he will be surrounded by love!

Melanie and Will - Sneak Peek

At the end of January I was lucky enough to meet Melanie and Will thanks to a mutual acquaintance. They are awaiting the birth of their first (human) baby in early March and wanted to capture some maternity pictures. I, of course, was more than happy to oblige! Here's a sneak peek of that afternoon!
